GAFE, or Google Apps For Education, has arrived at Northern Bay College!
I have been using Google Drive for shared planning this year. Slowly but surely the team I work with are beginning to use the shared drive to share planning documents and resources - a saviour for my poor inbox! The students are now all set and ready to go with their own GAFE accounts - I can't wait to get planning for how we can use the resources for some collaborative work next term. For a great read on Collaborative Learning check out chapter 3 of 'Classroom Instruction That Works'. Here are some of my scribbles (screenshot from Notability app)

On the advice of students, a teacher in the 3-5 Learning Community and I organised for a special guest to come in and speak to our students about Cyber Safety. Leading Senior Constable Robbie Noggler is the Youth Resource Officer at the Geelong Police Station and comes and speaks to students about Cyber Safety. This is an extract from our Campus Newsletter about the visit: Friday the 22nd of May was also a special day for the 6-8 learning community. Robbie Noggler, a representative of the Victorian Police Force visited our building to inform the students about Cyber-Safety. The students definitely had something to think about at the conclusion of the presentation! We also had some parents come in and listen to the presentation, which I am sure, they found extremely valuable.
